Last Minute Christmas Crafts

Christmas is THIS WEEK! These craft ideas are quick, easy, and will keep all the kids busy before opening presents. These are actual projects that we made in my son’s class at school – teachers, these are easy crafts you can make in your classroom next holiday season! You can find all the supplies for these projects at your favorite craft retailer and Kunin Eco-fi felt by-the-yard at Wal-Mart and Joann Stores.

Handprint-Project-on-Felt---Snowman

This craft is usually done on a glass ball ornament but that’s messy and not always practical when crafting with littles. Everyone can make these easy felt handprints and turn them into keepsake ornaments this holiday season. Pour a thin layer of paint onto a paper plate. Place one hand in the paint and then press it to a 9×12 sheet of Kunin Eco-Fi Felt. Allow to dry. Use a permanent marker to draw on the hats and elements of the snowmen on each “finger” of the painted hand. Display on the sheet or cut out the hand and create an ornament.

Toilet-Paper-Tube-Snowmen-with-Felt---Classroom-Project

Everyone has wrapping paper, paper towel, and toilet paper tubes this time of year. Why not upcycle them into a fun kids craft?! You can disinfect toilet paper and paper towel tubes with spray disinfectant before using. Cut down wrapping paper or paper towel tubes to about 4” tall. Cut felt to 4” tall strips and wrap around the tubes. Glue in place, using clothespins to hold the felt in place while the glue dries. Tie a ribbon around the tube as a scarf. Add googly eyes and buttons with glue. Bend the chenille stem into a “U” shape and glue to the top of the tube with pom poms to form earmuffs.

Supplies:

  • 9” x 12” Craft cuts Kunin Eco-Fi Classicfelt™ in White
  • Wrapping paper, paper towel, and toilet paper tubes
  • Buttons
  • Pom poms
  • Chenille stems (cut to 4”)
  • Ribbon strips or felt strips for the scarf (6 to 7” long)
  • Clothespins
  • Googly eyes

FELT CIRCLE ORNAMENTS

If you’re a teacher or classroom mom, this is a great project to make with the kids! Cut circles from felt, add each student’s photo the center of the circle, then allow the kids to decorate the circles with glitter glue, puffy paint, and sequins. After the ornaments are dry, attach a ribbon loop as a hanger in the back with glue.
