The new year always encourages decluttering and organizing all the things, especially my desk space. Making stylish and trendy storage solutions is effortless with my favorite Kunin Felt Brand. Create a no-sew, quick and easy embroidery storage hoop that goes together in just about 15 minutes with limited supplies.
Time: 15 Minutes
Skill Level: Beginner
YOU WILL NEED:
- Kunin® Premium™ 12” x 18” Craft Cuts – Charcoal (2), Lagoon (1)
- Kunin® Classics™ Felt Yardage – Lagoon (1/2 yard)
- Wooden Embroidery Hoops – 12” and 8” in diameter
- E6000 Fabri-Fuse Liquid Fabric Glue
- Assorted Trims – Off-White Lace, Rick Rack
- Scissors
- Ruler
- White Chalk Pencil
- Jute Twine
- Pinking Shears
- Scallop Pinking Shears
STEP ONE:
To begin the Easy Embroidery Hoop Storage, gather all supplies. Measure and cut Charcoal Kunin® Premium™ Felt into a 14” by 6” rectangle, cutting a decorative edge along one of the 14” lengths with pinking shears.
STEP TWO:
Layer Charcoal Felt on top of Lagoon Kunin® Premium™ Felt Yardage and fit loosely into 12” embroidery hoop. Pull felt gently from the back to ensure the Felt is taught and then tighten the screw at the top of the hoop. Layering the Felt creates a quick and easy pocket.
STEP THREE:
Flip the embroidery hoop over, and trim the excess Felt from the back of the hoop with scissors.
STEP FOUR:
Secure the cut edge of the Felt with the embroidery hoop with E6000 Fabri-Fuse Liquid Fabric Glue. This will ensure that the Felt will not slip out of the hoop.
STEP FIVE:
Flip hoop over and apply off-white rick rack along the cut edge of the Charcoal Kunin® Premium™ Felt with Fabri-Fuse. Repeat with off-white lace, making sure to apply glue to the cut edges of the rick rack and lace to prevent them from fraying.
STEP SIX:
Apply a length of jute twine, lace, or rick rack to the back of the embroidery hoop and secure with E6000 Fabri-Fuse.
STEP SEVEN:
Repeat above steps with the 8” embroidery hoop, using Charcoal Kunin® Premium™ Felt as the base, and a 10” by 5” rectangle of Lagoon Kunin® Premium™ Felt as the pocket. Trim the edge of the Lagoon Felt with scallop pinking shears.
