Nautical Flag Banner

By Laura Bray

It’s summertime! Time to start planning outdoor parties. Nautical themes are always fun (even when you don’t live by the water) so I thought I would share this fun, felt, nautical flag banner project today.

Nautical flags are used as a way for boats and ships to communicate with one another. Each flag represents a different message but they also represent different letters in the alphabet. You can make a family banner and spell out your last name with the different flags. That would be fun! Of course, you can also just pick the flag designs you like best too. And who says you have to stick with traditional colors? I used a Lagoon colored felt instead of a navy blue for my flags to give them a more creative touch. Crafters can be rebels like that. Just don’t try to flag down other boats with your “creative” nautical flags, ok?

Did you know that Kunin felt is great to use for your outdoor projects? The felt doesn’t fade and is mildew resistant so craft away!
