Lucy the Lion Plushfelt Costume

Halloween has always been a family affair and a big deal around our home. My daughter’s birthday is October 28th so there have been many Halloween themed parties! Every year I would make us costumes, her Dad would take her out Trick or Treating. Her first as a one year old was as Little Red Riding Hood and her Dad the Big Bad Wolf.

Skip down the Yellow Brick Road to many years later and grandlittle Lucy is one and I made her a lion costume. There is nothing cowardly about this little lion, she will try anything!

One of my very favorite Kunin products is the Plushfelt in Cashmere Tan. If you have been following the Woodland Series I used it for both the fawn and hedgehog.

What I have learned about costume making is how to do it quick and easy! For Lucy the Lion I used a hooded sweater she was just outgrowing and a second hand pair of leggings. You do not have to SEW! As long as you can use scissors and squeeze a bottle of fabric glue, you can do this! Fabri-tac by Beacon is my go to glue.

Basically all I did was take long strips of plush felt, fold in half, cut through the fold to fringe and then glue in rows on hood and around bottom of pants. Depending on age of child make the fringe strips narrower for smaller children, approximately 4”-5” and then fold.

The family had a wonderful time, my daughter still loves dressing up and her husband goes along for the fun with all his girls!

ou can now find an expanded color line of Kunin Eco-fi Classicfelt; Eco-fiPlus™ Premiumfelt and ShaggiChic non-wovens fabrics in cut by the yard at your local Walmart; please inquire as to what is available in your area.

Hope you enjoyed a Happy Halloween!
