Graduation Party Pennants

By Beth Watson

Graduation season is here! I can’t believe it, but my nephew just graduated from High School! Those 18 years went by in the blink of an eye, but now it is time to celebrate Zach and his accomplishments with a party! These graduation party pennants went together in just a few hours with supplies I had in my craft stash and make perfect personalized decorations.

Here’s what you need:

  • Kunin® Premium Felt 12” by 18” Craft Cuts – Red (2); Black (2) and White (2)
  • E6000 Fabri-Fuse Glue
  • Ruler; Scissors; Letter Stickers; Bakers Twine; Plain Paper; Straight Pins; Permanent Black Marker; Black Buttons (24 small); Pencil

Here’s how to make it:

STEP ONE
For the Pennant Banner, measure and cut twelve (12) pennants that are 3” wide by 6” tall from Red Kunin® Premium Felt. Cut out additional pennants to spell out your message. Fishtail each pennant by measuring at 1 ½” across by 1” up and drawing diagonal lines out to the corners.

STEP TWO
Add jumbo letter stickers to the pennants (I had these in my stash from Michael’s) spelling out CONGRATS ZACH. Add the letters to spell out your message.

STEP THREE
Attach bakers twine with fabric glue to the front of the pennants to create a banner, then attach a small black button to point of each pennant with fabric glue.

STEP FOUR
For the Name Pennant, measure 6” down from the top of the 12” length of the Black and White Kunin® Premium Felt, then draw diagonal lines out to the corners. Cut out with scissors.

STEP FIVE
Measure and cut one 12” by 1” rectangle from White and Black Kunin® Premium Felt. Cut out two “V” shapes from White and Black Kunin® Premium Felt and attach to opposite color pennant with fabric glue.

STEP SIX
Trace pennant shape on to a large piece of plain paper, sketch in the graduate’s name. Cut letters out of paper and pin to Red Kunin® Premium Felt. Cut out with scissors. Repeat and cut out a second set.

STEP SEVEN
Attach red letters to the white and black pennants with fabric glue.

Switch up the color scheme to match your graduate’s high school or college spirit colors! This is also a fun project to decorate a dorm room.

You can now find an expanded color line of Kunin® ClassicfeltKunin® Premiumfelt and Corduroy non-wovens fabrics in cut by the yard at your local Walmart; please inquire as to what is available in your area.
