Trendy DIY Lemon Wreath

Lemons are everywhere these days, not just at the grocery store!  I have noticed lemons popping up in paper crafting, home décor, fabric, clothing designs, greeting cards and even television ads.  So, to keep up to date, I have created a fresh and Trendy DIY Lemon Wreath with my favorite Kunin Brand Felt Colors!

Time:  1 Hour

Skill Level:  Beginner

YOU WILL NEED:

  • Kunin® Classics™ Felt 9” x 12” Craft Cuts – White, Yellow, Lemon Frost, Kelly Green (1 each) and Olive (3)
  • FloraCraft® Design It: Flowers® 12″ Extruded Foam Wreath
  • Tombow MONOTWIN Permanent Marker
  • Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
  • Scissors
  • Ruler
  • Half Pearls or Rhinestones – Black (5)
  • Ribbon – black and white gingham
  • Trendy Lemon Wreath Patterns
STEP ONE

Measure, mark and cut two sheets of Kunin® Classics™ Olive Felt in 1” by 12” strips, so you have 18 strips total.

STEP TWO

Glue the beginning of the first strip to the foam wreath form, wrap around and then secure the end.  Start the second strip at the end of the first one.  Continue gluing and wrapping until the entire wreath is covered.

STEP THREE

Download, print and cut out the Trendy DIY Lemon Wreath Patterns HERE.  Trace the leaf patterns onto Olive and Kelly Green Kunin Felt as instructed on the pattern sheet with a permanent marker and then cut out with scissors.  TIP:  Remember to cut inside the traced lines for a clean finished project!

Trace the Lemon and Flower patterns onto Yellow, Lemon Frost and White Kunin Felt as instructed on the pattern sheet with a permanent marker and then cut out with scissors.

STEP FOUR

Create dimension in the large leaves by running a ¼” line of glue at the tip and folding in half until the glue has cooled.  Repeat for all of the Olive and Kelly Green large leaves.  Small leaves will remain flat.

Stack the Yellow and Lemon Frost pieces to create the lemon halves.  Secure each layer using the glue gun and glue sticks according to the photo.  Whole lemons will remain flat.

STEP FIVE

Attach lemons to wreath with glue gun overlapping the half lemons with the whole lemons. Then dry fit the leaves in place, so that it the composition looks organic.

Tuck the large leaves in between the lemons, clustering the Olive ones in the center and scattering the Kelly Green ones around the edges.

Glue a small Kelly Green leaf to the back of each white flower, attach to the top of a whole lemon and then poke the center with the point of a pair of scissors until the glue dries.  This will create dimension in the flowers.

STEP SIX

Add a black self-adhesive half pearl to the center of each flower.  To finish, tie a bow with black and white gingham ribbon and attach to wreath with glue gun and glue sticks.

I hope you will use my Trendy DIY Lemon Wreath project as a jumping off point to showcase your Kunin Creativity and create some fresh and colorful home décor during the upcoming Spring Season!  Switch up the citrus to match YOUR home’s décor, the possibilities are bright and colorful!
