Felt Leaves for Fall

Fall is the time for cool evenings, crackling fires and hot chocolate. It’s that special time of year when we feel warm and cozy and the look and feel of felt makes it the natural choice for all your fall decorating. Add some Felt Leaves for Fall décor.

Decorations are quick’n EZ when you have a Cricut® Maker.  It gives you the ability make an unlimited supply of both simple and intricate felt shapes for an abundance of creative and crafty ideas. So much easier than having to cut with scissors or craft knife making the impossible possible…

Skill Level for this project: Beginner
Time to complete: 1 ½  hours

YOU WILL NEED:

  • Kunin® Classic™ 9” x 12” Craft Cuts – 2 each Gold, Copper, Goldenrod & Pumpkin Spice
  • Cricut® Maker™ with Rotary blade
  • Glue and/or double-sided fusible web*

*Select a fusible web with a paper backing e.g. which will turn any fabric into a fusible fabric.

STEP TWO

Size the basic leaf shape to 8 ½” H  and rotate slightly, about 4˚ to fit.

Cut 2 each from Gold and Pumpkin Spice as follows:

Place the felt horizontally across the top of the mat. Insert “Felt” in the “Browse all Materials” tab, then select “Felt Acrylic”.  Use the rotary blade to cut. After cutting is complete, pull the felt surrounding the shape from the mat, then carefully lift the shape.

 STEP THREE

Size the leaf shape with vein cut outs to 8” H. Cut, then carefully remove the leaf shape and the veins from the mat. Set the small vein pieces aside to use later. Glue to the basic shape with a tacky, or felt glue. A better option however, is to adhere double-sided fusible web to one side of the felt before cutting then, following directions on the fusible web package, simply iron onto the solid leaf shape. A fusible web will also stabilize the felt making intricate pieces easier to work with. Mix and match colors as desired to coordinate with your tabletop and/or home décor. Felt leaves for fall come in many shades.

 STEP FOUR (optional)

Adhere the “vein” cutouts in one color into the openings of a complementary color!

Use finished leaves individually for tabletop accents or adhere to table runners and decorative pillows! With a Maker you can also cut smaller leaves to create wreaths, garlands, place cards, etc.  With so many creative options and beautiful colors of felt to choose from, the possibilities are endless………….

HAVE A HAPPY FALL Y’ALL!
