Red, White and Blue Celebration Streamers

Red, White and Blue Celebration Streamers are a perfect way to celebrate the 4th of July or any celebration and they are super easy to make.   You can make lots of them and decorate your drive way. You can have them to shake at an outdoor birthday or picnic changing up the colors for the event.

Time:  30 minutes to 1 hour depending on how many you want to make

Skill Level:  Easy

YOU WILL NEED:

  • 9” x 12” craft cuts of Kunin Felt Classic Felt: (2) Red, (2) White, (2) Royal Blue
  • Cutting Mat
  • Cutting Ruler
  • Rotary Cutting Tool
  • Hot Glue Gun with glue sticks
  • Sticks (I recycled sticks that were a cut out of a laser cut project)

STEP 1

Using a cutting mat, rotary cutting tool and cutting ruler, cut .25” x 12” strips from each of the colors of felt.  TIP:  The amount will vary depending on how many streamers you’d like to make.   I used 2 craft cuts of each color.

STEP 2

Divide the strips up evenly into small groups.  I made 6 groups of roughly 10-12 strips.  Gather them together so that they are all the lined up evenly.  Remove 1 strip from each group to tie/wrap around the streamer.

STEP 3

Lay the extra piece flat on a surface and then lay the group of strips on the extra piece, leaving about 1” overlapping.

STEP 4

Take the flat piece and tie it as tight as possible.   After you have tied the flat piece, wrap it around the streamer and glue the ends down with the hot glue gun. TIP:   Be careful when pulling tightly as you don’t want your felt to pull apart.

STEP 5

Holding the streamer where you have wrapped the flat piece around it, pull the 1” ends apart and apply hot glue.   Add your stick and then wrap the 1” felt around the stick closing in the stick.  You may have to add more glue if you’d like to completely hide the end of your stick.

Once your glue is dry, you are ready to celebrate with your Red, White and Blue Celebration Streamers.  The kids will love them.  There are lots of color combinations that you could do.  You could make these for birthdays, New Years Eve, Christmas or just because!
