Play is so important in my classroom. That is why I love making this DIY no-sew felt food sushi for my kitchen center! With simple and inexpensive materials, you can create this realistic looking play food. This is great for open-ended play and for allowing your students imaginations to soar! Let’s grab our supplies and let’s get started!
You Will Need:
- 9″ x 12” craft cuts Kunin Classicfelt™ in Kelly Green and Black
- 9” x 12” craft cut of Kunin Corduroy™ in Candy Pink, Yellow, Red, Orange
- Cotton balls
- Scissors
- Hot glue gun
- White cardstock
- Printer
- Free “You’re Soy Amazing” Printable
Using a variety of colors of 9″ x 12” craft cuts of Kunin Classicfelt™ and Kunin Corduroy™ felt, creating this realistic food sushi is easy! Cut out one-inch strips of 9” x 12” craft cut of Kunin Corduroy™ in Candy Pink and one-inch strips of 9″ x 12” craft cuts Kunin Classicfelt™ in Black.
Adhere the one-inch Candy Pink strip of Kunin Corduroy™ to two cotton balls using hot glue. You can choose a variety of colors to represent different types of fish to your DIY felt sushi rolls.
Adhere your one-inch strip of 9″ x 12” craft cuts of Kunin Classicfelt™ in Black around your one-inch strip of Candy Pink felt and two cotton balls. Secure together by adding hot glue. Print out this FREE “You’re Soy Amazing” Printable to pair with your DIY felt sushi.
Create a variety of sushi rolls by drawing a fish template onto your 9” x 12” craft cut of Kunin Corduroy™ with a permanent marker. Cut out each fish using a pair of scissors.
Pair each Kunin Corduroy™ felt fish with two cottons balls. Adhere with hot glue for durability. This activity is a great way to let your students explore different colors and materials. You would be surprised at all the fun and creative options they will come up with for your DIY play felt sushi!
