Creative Service Projects

Sometimes we wonder what can we do to help. Crafting a service project to help someone in need is a way to do that and a great way to involve the kids.

Every other Saturday on Scout Saturdays, Laura Kelly shares projects for Scouts and anyone can make. Many are service projects like these hygiene kits. There are so many who could use this basic kit. Full tutorial here. https://www.kuninfelt.com/2017/02/18/scout-saturday-hygiene-felt-kits-to-give/

Spending time with a senior is a gift but how about making it even more special by sewing up a Walker Pocket, put in special surprise and take it along on a visit. Laura Kelly shares this DIY on her blog. http://www.meandmyinklings.com/index.php/2017/09/07/diy-pockets-for-walkers-as-service-project/

Laura Kelly has a new die with Sizzix/Ellison, an adorable sock monkey. Who doesn’t love a sock monkey? This special pillow is both useful and playful. What a surprise gift this would make to a child in the hospital or recovering at home. http://www.meandmyinklings.com/index.php/2017/08/31/diy-i-spy-sensory-pillow-service-project/

You can now find an expanded color line of Kunin Eco-fi ClassicfeltEco-fiPlus™ Premiumfelt and ShaggiChicnon-wovens fabrics in cut by the yard at your local Walmart; please inquire as to what is available in your area.

Spending time crafting together to create practical gifts for those in need is an enjoyable and meaningful way to involve a group of kids and the whole family.

We can all make a difference.
Happy crafting!
