Giant Trick-or-Treat Tote

Halloween is just around the corner! Jennifer Priest here with an easy DIY treat bag tutorial for Halloween. Every year that we’ve purchased bags for the kids to go Trick-or-treating, two things happen: the bag is too small and the kids have to come home to dump it out midway through the night and the bags are so themed, the kids don’t really use them the rest of the year. I used Kunin Eco-Fi Plus Premium Felt Sheets to create this oversized non-traditional colored tote that can be used on Halloween and beyond.

This project also features a stenciled image reminiscent of a cameo. Since this bag was for my teen daughter, I wanted it to be something she’d use outside of just trick or treating. I chose her favorite color purple, accented that with red, and then used a skull stencil to add a skull to the middle of the felt “cameo” applique.

Another great benefit of using felt for this bag is that it can be washed without fading or losing its shape. Since the felt is mildew-resistant, this bag is great for toting around everyday items, like college books, sports uniforms, and water bottles in style.

Here are the supplies you’ll need to make this bag for your own kids (or for yourself!). Change the colors and stenciled image for different ages and for boys or girls. My son is asking for one of these skull bags for his trick-or-treating loot!
