DIY Felt Ice Cream Craft

It is that time of the year when everyone is ready for warmer weather! What’s the one tasty treat that all children love on a hot day in the summer? Ice cream, of course! This DIY felt ice cream craft is the perfect activity to complete with your students or children. However, don’t forget the real ice cream after you finish this creative craft! Let’s grab our supplies and let’s get crafting!

Time: 20 minutes

Skill Level: Beginner

You Will Need:

Step 1: In the story, Izzy the Ice-Cream Fairy by Make Believe Ideas Ltd., Izzy and her friends run a magical ice-cream stall on the beach, until one day they discover that their ice-cream well has run dry. Your students or children will love reading this book and helping Izzy search for more delicious ice cream. This DIY Ice Cream Kid’s Craft is the perfect connection to this whimsical story. First, let’s get started by gathering all of our supplies.

Step 2: Using your Ellison SuperStar Machine, die cut your 9” x 12” craft cuts of Kunin Classicfelt™ in Candy Pink, Lagoon, and Peacock using your Sizzix Bigz Die – Flashcard, Cupcake Item #A11070. I love how versatile this die cut is! You can use it as a cupcake or as a bowl of ice cream – how cool! We can use the different colors of felt to overlap our bowl of ice cream.

Step 3: Using scissors, cut the bottom portion off your ice cream die cut in the color Lagoon. Adhere it on top of your ice cream die cut in the color Candy Pink. If you want to get really creative and add stripes to the bowl of your ice cream, cut the bottom portion of your ice cream die cut into ¼ inch strips.

Step 4: Adhere jewel sequins on top of your ice cream to represent sprinkles. I also adhered a red pom pom as the “cherry on top” of the ice cream.

Step 5: Add glitter glue to your bowl of ice cream to give your craft a little extra sparkle. I love using glitter glue because it’s easy for kids to do independently and the mess isn’t too bad either!
