DIY Spring Sunshine Craft

by Chad Boender

Now that spring is just around the corner, it’s time to get busy making some colorful crafts for kids! Get in the mood for spring with this simple spring craft for kids to make! Let’s get crafting!

You Will Need:
• 9″ x 12” craft cuts Kunin Classicfelt™ in Red, Orange, Yellow, Pirate Green, Neon Blue, and Royal Blue
• 8-Inch, Yellow Paper Plates
• Fiskars Paper Edger Scissors
• Tiny Pink Pom Poms
• Sharpie Marker
• Googly Eyes
• Clothespins
• Hot glue gun or any type of adhesive
• Rust-oleum Painter’s Touch Spray Paint in the color “Sun Yellow”

Here’s How to Make it:

Step 1:
Using your Fiskars paper edging scissors cut an 8-inch yellow paper plate in half.

Step 2:
Cut 1-inch strips from 9” x 12” craft cuts of Kunin Classicfelt; in Red, Orange, Yellow, Pirate Green, Neon Blue, and Royal Blue. These will be used for our rainbow.

Step 3:
Line up your 1-inch strips of Kunin Classicfelt; in order. Using hot glue or another type of adhesive, glue the yellow plate on top of the 1-inch strips. Using Rust-oleum Painter’s Touch Spray Paint in the color “Sun Yellow”, spray paint the clothespins yellow. If you would prefer that your students paint their own clothespins, be sure to provide them with a kid-friendly paint alternative. Make sure it’s washable, too!

Step 4:
After spray painting the clothespins and allowing them to dry, clip them onto the outer edge of the yellow paper plate.

Add googly eyes, a fun mouth, and some tiny pink pom poms to your rainbow sun!

This craft will definitely put your kids or students in the mood for spring! You can now find an expanded color line of Kunin® Classicfelt; Kunin® Premiumfelt and Corduroy non-wovens fabrics in cut by the yard at your local Walmart; please inquire as to what is available in your area.

Happy Crafting,
