Rainbow Fish Felt

One of my favorite childhood books is The Rainbow Fish by Marcus Pfister. This DIY rainbow fish felt craft is the perfect craft to pair with this amazing story. Let’s grab our supplies and let’s get started!

You Will Need:

Using a variety of colors of 9″ x 12” craft cuts Kunin Classicfelt™ and Kunin Metallic Dot Coordinates™ felt, creating this DIY Rainbow Fish felt craft is easy! I used my Ellison Superstar Machine and the Sizzix Bigz Die – Fish #3 (Item #A10637) die cut to cut the fish base out of 9” x 12” craft cuts of Kunin Classicfelt™ in Neon Blue and Ocean Blue.

Using a pair of scissors, remove the head off one of the fish. This will be used as a layer on top of your fish base.

I used my Ellison Superstar Machine and the Sizzix Bigz Die – Circles 1″ & 1 1/2″ (Item #A10212) to die cut 1” circles of 9” x 12” craft cut of Kunin Classicfelt™ in Candy Pink, Purple, Red, and Peacock and 9″ x 12” craft cuts Kunin Metallic Dot Coordinates™ in Black.

Cut your 1” felt circles in half using a pair of scissors. These will be used as the scales for our rainbow fish.

Layer the circles onto the base of your rainbow fish. Use Tacky Glue or any other type of adhesive to glue the scales onto your fish.

Add detail to your fish using glitter glue or a paint stick. Add sequins or jewels to make your DIY felt rainbow fish resemble the fish in the book The Rainbow Fish by Marcus Pfister.

You can now find an expanded color line of Kunin® ClassicfeltKunin® Premiumfelt and Corduroy non-wovens fabrics in cut by the yard at your local Walmart; please inquire as to what is available in your area.

Happy Crafting,
