Girl Scout Leader Appreciation Gift Bag

April 22 is Girl Scout Leader Appreciation Day. These leaders work really hard to make a difference in the lives of girls so this day is a fabulous one to reach out and thank them. I think handmade gifts are the best and this one is sure to be a hit. The little trefoil bag can be used to hold a gift card, a collection of little notes from the girls or other goodies.

Making it is quick and easy. You will need the following materials and supplies:

  • 9” x 12” craft cuts of Kunin Corduroy Felt: 2 Kelly Green, 1 Red
  • Scissors
  • Trefoil Pattern
  • Embroidery Floss (Red and Green)
  • Needle
  • Hole Puncher
  • Ribbon to Tie Bag Closed

Put your two pieces of green corduroy felt with the back facing each other. Trace the trefoil pattern and then cut the two pieces out together. Cut a little red heart and stitch it to the front trefoil with red embroidery floss.

Sew the two trefoil pieces together, leaving the top open. Use a hole punch to create holes about an inch apart. Thread your ribbon through the holes to tie the bag closed.

If I were receiving this, I would LOVE a coffee shop gift card, notes from my girls or any other little thing that they thought I would like. Being appreciated always feels so good in the heart.

It is also a great way to give your leaders pins or patches they might have earned. The volunteer pin is always a good idea to give to those who support your troop’s success. It fits perfectly on the felt heart.

You can now find an expanded color line of Kunin® ClassicfeltKunin® Premiumfelt and Corduroy non-wovens fabrics in cut by the yard at your local Walmart; please inquire as to what is available in your area.

Yay for Leaders Who Make a Difference,
Laura
