PREP WORK

To begin the Trio of Recycled Pencil Holders, gather all supplies. Remove the labels from the large soup cans, then wash and dry each can completely.

COMPOSITION BOOK

Measure a 5” by 12” rectangle onto Black Kunin® Classic™ Felt with a white chalk pencil and cut out inside the traced lines with scissors. Place white acrylic craft paint on a paper plate, crumple a piece of paper, dip paper into the white paint and stamp onto the black felt. Cover the entire surface of the black felt to resemble the pattern on a composition book. Set aside to dry.

Once dry, attach black felt to can using a glue gun and glue sticks. Trim any excess felt from the seam. Measure a rectangle 2 ½” by 2” from White Kunin® Classic™ Felt with a black marker and cut out inside the traced lines with scissors. Glue to the top front of the can. Drawn an outline, lines, and a name onto the white label with black dimensional fabric paint. Set aside to dry.

NO. 2 PENCIL

Measure a 3 ½”” by 12” rectangle onto Gold Kunin® Classic™ Felt, a 1 ½” by 12” rectangle onto Candy Pink Kunin® Classic™ Felt, and a ½” by 12” rectangle onto Silver Kunin® Classic™ Felt. Cut out inside the traced lines with scissors. Attach the Gold, then the Candy Pink rectangles to the can with a glue gun and glue sticks. Glue silver rectangle on top of seam between gold and candy pink felt. Trim excess felt with scissors.

Draw “No. 2” onto can with black dimensional fabric paint. Accent silver band with lines and dots of iridescent glitter glue. Set aside to dry.

A IS FOR APPLE

Cut out a leaf shape, with pinking shears from Olive Kunin® Classic™ Felt. Create a polka dot pattern using a new pencil eraser dipped in sour apple acrylic craft paint. Set aside to dry.

Measure a 5” by 12” rectangle onto Red Kunin® Classic™ Felt with a black marker and cut out inside the traced lines with scissors. Attach the red rectangle to the can with a glue gun and glue sticks. Trim excess felt with scissors. Tie green gingham ribbon in a square knot around the top of the can. Glue polka dot leaf underneath knot and clip clothespin to back of the can as the apple’s stem.
