Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and I always have a difficult time deciding what to make for my co-workers. These Valentine’s Day Mug Mats are the perfect solution because they are the masculine or feminine way to decorate and protect your desk from hot and/or cold beverages! I strongly suggest mixing and matching our Kunin Felt in a variety of colors and patterns to highlight each co-workers’ personality – the possibilities are endless!
Materials:
- Kunin™ Eco-FiPlus® PremiumFelt™ in Candy Pink
- 9” x 12” craft cuts Kunin™ Eco-Fi® ClassicFelt in Fuchsia
- 9” x 12” craft cuts Kunin™ Eco-Fi® Printzfelt™ in Blooming Floral
- 9” x 12” craft cuts Kunin™ Eco-Fi® Fancifelt™ in Zebra (black and white)
- Ruler; Pencil; Plain Paper; Fiskars Shape Template Hearts 3”; Scissors; Pinking Shears; Scalloped Shears; Straight Pins; Sewing Machine; Thread; Aquarellable Pencil by Stabilo in black and white; Valentine’s Day themed ribbons.
You can now find an expanded color line of Kunin Eco-fi Classicfelt; Eco-fiPlus™ Premiumfelt and ShaggiChic non-wovens fabrics in cut by the yard at your local Walmart; please inquire as to what is available in your area.
Instructions:
1.) On a piece of plain paper measure out two squares 4” by 4”. Cut one out for bottom template. Trace a 3” Heart in center of the second square, then cut out the square and the heart for the top template.
2.) Select a plain 9” x 12” craft cuts Kunin™ Eco-Fi® Rainbow Classicfelt™ for the top template and a patterned 9” x 12” craft cuts Kunin™ Eco-Fi® Printzfelt™ for the bottom template. Trace templates onto felt with Aquarellable Pencil by Stabilo in white for dark felt and in black for light felt.
3.) Cut out felt with straight scissors and pinking shears to create an eclectic look.
4.) Cut Valentine’s Day themed ribbon in 2” lengths, cut a fishtail in the end and insert along right side of Mug Mat. Pin felt and ribbon together, lining up edges.
5.) Sew Mug Mats on sewing machine with contrasting color thread, around edges. Remove pins.
My Valentine’s Day Mug Mats go together quickly and easily, I made a dozen in less than an hour!
