Kunin Sock Monkey Ornament

Christmastime rocks when it comes to creating holiday decorations.  Zoe asked me if we could make sock monkey ornaments and of course I said, Yes!  Let’s do it.”  Before I could get myself organized, she already created a pattern.    For being ten, she amazes me!

Here are the pieces all cut out to make four:

Pieces

We started out with the idea to use buttons for eyes but ended up stitching them on instead.   Here are the instructions to make them.

  1. Use the pattern to cut out your pieces (head, hat, mouth one and mouth two)
  2. Sew or glue your pieces together.
  3. Sew on a pom-pom or a button to decorate the hat.
  4. Stitch on eyes with black embroidery floss.
  5. Cut a slit in the hat to tie a piece of ribbon on string through to hang.

I recreated the pattern for you to use if you want to make a few sock monkey ornaments too. (Link to pattern)

The garland is super fun too.  I made it to decorate our reallllllly tall tree for the retreat that I am hosting this weekend.  You can check it out on my blog and find out how crazy easy it was to make.

Ornaments

You can now find an expanded color line of Kunin Eco-fi Classicfelt; Eco-fiPlus™ Premiumfelt and ShaggiChic non-wovens fabrics in cut by the yard at your local Walmart; please inquire as to what is available in your area.

Cheers to decorating and creating with felt and with your kiddos,

Laura
