Landscaping with Felt

Spring has finally arrived on the East coast and time for gardening! Gardening is an enjoyable experience and the results are so worthwhile. The least favorite part for any gardener is dealing with weeds. My garden also has sloped areas and the ground cover that existed in the garden allowed the mulch to slip off.

The solution for landscaping weed free is laying down felt as the ground cover. It is weatherproof, the water will simply pass through it to the ground and the weeds will be unable to come through. I had a bolt of Eco-fi Plus™ Premiumfelt in Walnut Brown to use. I first raked back the existing mulch, removed the previous ground cover and begun rolling out the felt. Using scissors cut holes for the plants and curved edges to fit the beds. I made sure to overlap the joins and staked the edges down. Mulch was simply placed over top. Very easy and weed free! The felt is available in several colors so you can match a shade to your mulch or earth in your garden. Just measure how much you need, it is available in 72” width cut by the yard bolts.

One of the other big plusses for my garden is the mulch adheres to the felt and my slopes are covered. It rained heavily following my placing the felt ground cover. It remained intact and looks great!
